Medical terms and services

Adult health care

A full exam that is usually done at your first visit. We recommend that you have a checkup at least once a year. During this visit your care team will update your medical record and make recommendations for preventative care such as vaccines or routine lab work. This visit may include a physical exam, screening for new problems, monitoring ongoing health problems.

Well-child exam (ages 0-18)

These exams are scheduled preventive checkups to monitor growth, development, and behavior, beginning shortly after birth and continuing annually from ages 3 to 21. These visits include head-to-toe physical exams, immunizations, screening tests (vision, hearing, blood), and "anticipatory guidance" regarding safety, nutrition, and development.

Vaccines and Immunizations

Essential public health tools that protect against over 30 dangerous diseases, using the body's natural defenses to build resistance. Vaccination (receiving the shot) creates immunization (the immunity developed). Routine vaccines are recommended across the lifespan—from infancy to adulthood—to prevent illnesses like COVID-19, measles, and influenza.

Prenatal and pregnancy care

Prenatal care is essential health care during pregnancy that reduces risks for both mother and baby through early detection of potential problems, regular fetal monitoring, and lifestyle guidance. Key components include regular checkups (starting at 8-10 weeks, then more frequent toward birth), blood tests, ultrasounds, and blood pressure monitoring. It is crucial for managing conditions like gestational diabetes and ensuring healthy fetal development.

Refugee health care services

Includes medical screenings, vaccinations, and mental health support for newly arrived people who have been persecuted in their home country because of their race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group.
