Common terms and services

Well-child exams

A regular exam young people should have at least once a year. Your care team will do a physical exam to make sure you are growing healthy.

Your provider will answer any questions you have and recommend any immunizations or lab work you may need.

Sports physicals

An exam that students need to play sports at school in Oregon. The first step is a form that a parent or guardian must fill out before the visit.

Students can bring the form home from school, or you can download it below.

During the visit, your care team will listen to your heart and lungs, test your eyesight, and check your strength and reflexes.

Illness and injury care

A visit for anyone who is not feeling well. Your care team will ask about your medical history and your symptoms. They may also order some tests.

Then, they will create a plan to help you feel better. They may refer you to a specialist or order medications.

Immunizations

Our school-based Student Health Centers provide all recommended and required immunizations for anyone ages 5-18.

You can schedule a visit just to get immunizations or include them as part of any of your visits.

Lab tests

All Student Health Centers have labs that provide same-day testing for urinary tract infections, COVID, strep, and flu.

The clinics can also test for sexually transmitted infections, diabetes, tuberculosis, cholesterol, and thyroid issues.

Results are usually available in 1-2 business days.

Prescription medications

If your provider orders a medication, you can pick it up the next day at the Student Health Center. Or, we can send the prescription to any pharmacy.

Reproductive health

Student Health Centers provide a full range of reproductive health services including testing for pregnancy and for sexually transmitted infections.

We also offer Plan B and many forms of birth control.

Mental health

You can schedule visits with behavioral health providers and mental health counselors at our Student Health Centers.

Your care team will talk to you about your concerns and review which mental health service is best for you.

We offer routine screenings, diagnosis, health coaching, and other support.

Our medical providers will work with the mental health team if you are prescribed mental health medications.
